Love

I'm starting back up with the project Words to Shoot By which I have taken WAY too much time off of. This week, our word was love, how appropriate.

Slowtrain

The other day, Steph and I went to Slowtrain to check it out. We took some photos each of the store and checked out their music selection. My brother in law has a facebook page called the radio cure that posts new or old music that is really good and was featured on the slowtrain website. I shot this as part of my project Words to Shoot By which I haven't been very good at participating in lately, but really love doing. All good stuff!

Summer

Don't you love those weird, sort of creepy carnivals that are in old abandoned parking lots during the summer? They're my fav. Being able to see the "behind the scene" if you will and workers bored out of their minds trying to get you to play impossible games so you can win a stuffed animal that no one really wants. Ahhh, summer, how i've missed you so.

This is also for the project that I have been absent from for quite some time, Words to Shoot By, so go check out what everyone else did.

Christmas in New York

I love Christmas time in New York. It is so fun to be a part of the hustle and bustle, but also so great to be back home with family for a little bit.

Map

For my project "Words to Shoot By" this week, our word was map.  I sort of went in the direction of using maps when you travel by sea, rail or ground.  I shot these with my diana using kodak E6 film and cross processed it for all those photo geeks out there who want to know.

Round

Our word this week for my project Words to Shoot By was round.  Upon just moving to New York and not knowing anyone, I found this to be a bit more challenging than usual.  I decided to go to Coney Island on Saturday because I had never been there and always wanted to go check it out.  It was so much fun.  I loved every second of it.  I brought with me my Polaroid SX-70, my Diana, and my Yashica Mat-124 G.  I couldn't believe how many people stopped me to ask what kind of camera I had and how old they were.  It was awesome.  I ended up shooting 10 polaroids and 4 rolls of film, so much more from Coney Island to come, when I get my film developed.

Mar & Mar

For my Words to Shoot By project this week, our word was Two. How could I resist taking photos of these two? My mom and Mar were like little kids to work with, they wouldn't sit still and especially wouldn't stop posing. What do you do? It took a lot to get them to model for me, but I'm stoked they did, even if they were stinkers. I wanted to post more from this shoot because I really like how they turned out. I'm sure the twins will have nothing positive to say about this, but I think they're really cute. Especially because to get each other to laugh, they kept pointing at each other and said "you're cute, no you're cute." Thanks Mom and Mar!

Play

Our word this week for the project Words to Shoot By was play. I had many, many, many ideas of what I wanted to do, but decided to keep it simple with some good old fashion dress ups. My cute niece Lily was stoked to be able to dress up and I was stoked to be able to play with her a little bit. Check out our blog to see what everyone else did as well.

Words to shoot by

Robin, Sara, Steph, Teri and I are starting a photo collaboration entitled Words to Shoot By. We go live today! We choose a word and each come up with our interpretation of the word. This week our word was Green. It's very interesting to see how each person interpreted the word and fun to see each persons style come out even in such a small fashion. This is how I interpreted green. The goal is to get out there and shoot. We will be posting every two weeks. I'm so excited about this project and can't wait to share it with all of you and to work with these very talented photographers. Go check it out here.
